In the notice, a copy of which is available with Business Standard, the production company said it had paid Rs 10.9 crore to the actor, which the company claims was diverted by him to produce Unnaipol Oruvan, co-produced by his production house, Rajkamal Films International, and UTV International. The company has sought a court stay on the picture’s release and its audio cassettes.
Pyramid Saimira entered into a joint venture with Kamal Haasan on April 2, 2008, to produce Marmayogi, in the Tamil and Hindi languages, at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore. The actor is alleged to have assured that he would bring in Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Priyanka Chopra for the Hindi version.
Pyramid Saimira has asked the actor to refund Rs 10.9 crore, with interest at 24 per cent a year, failing which it said it would take civil and criminal action.
